Lucifer Movie Review
MOHANLAL'S LUCIFER MOVIE REVIEW
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran
makes his debut as a director with Lucifer which stars Malayalam cinema
superstar Mohanlal. The much awaited film has finally hit the
screens today and has opened to a positive response by the audiences. Apart
from Mohanlal and Manju Warrier, the movie also features Tovino Thomas,
Indrajith and Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. The film has
grabbed limelight since its inception also because Prithviraj Sukumaran is not
only directing the film but also is playing a small role
In God`s own country, the
supreme leader of the ruling party dies, leaving a huge vacuum in not only the
electoral and leadership sphere of the party but also that of the state. In the
inevitable succession squabble and the power struggle that ensues, the thin
line that separates good and bad becomes irrecoverably blurred and out of this
seemingly endless mayhem, emerging forces that are hitherto unheard of.
The movie is a treat for all
Mohanlal's fans. Lucifer is an out and out Lalettan show. The
director has made the movie in such a way that it will target and impress all
who loves Mohanlal. The superstar delivers a tremendous performance as Stephen
Nedumbally, his just a look or share will make you go crazy. His one-liners have
created massive impact, a feat that only Mohanlal can execute to perfection.
Vivek gets to play a
well-written role, and it is one of the most excellent acts by any other
Bollywood actor in Malayalam. Priyadarshini, portrayed by Manju Warrier, is
predictable too. But the way she carries the character forward with reserve and
ease, makes her performance stand out. This is one of the most appealing
characters Manju has done in recent times.
Saniya Iyyappan as a
drug-addicted girl too played her role with perfection. Tovino Thomas surprises
everyone, especially in one of those crux scenes, which is one of the best
parts of the film.
Indrajith’s role as an
activist, though minor, leaves a lasting impression.
Prithviraj has worked on
Mohanlal the star more than he has on Mohanlal the actor. Scriptwriter Murali
Gopy has also gone back to the legend of Mohanlal with references ranging from
the 1980s blockbuster Irupatham Noottandu to Narasimham and the more recent
Pulimurugan. But thankfully the director-scriptwriter team have been able to
blend in these references without making it sound repetitive or exhausting.
Lucifer has nothing
unexpected, and to some extent fails to deliver even what was expected
Prithviraj has tried to bring
out the best version of Mohanlal the star. For Mohanlal fans like him all over
the world, Lucifer will be a treat.
